Cake in a cup

I guess the first real story I remember was quite a few months ago. It was when we were on break at school, it may have been lunch, it may have been a spare class, I cant remember. What I do remember is the words "Lets bake a cake." It's possible that J said them, but I have the feeling it was me, as I am usually the one with the stupid ideas.

The thought of cake had me excited and J agreeing, so I got out the ingredients, turned on the stove, and away we went, measuring and mixing.

It had sliped my mind that the night before, in an attemp to keep the rest of my homemade pizza warm, I had placed it in the stove. It AND the rubber cuting board it was on.

I looked at J. J looked at me. Then, in almost comical slow motion we turned our heads towards the smell of smoke. Flames licked at the window of the oven, bright and red. J and I screamed. "What do we do, what do we do?" we cried. She jumped back and I almost fell forward in an attempt to open the oven and stop the fire. No, I didnt have any water, and no I didn't have a means to put out the fire. These thoughts simply slip your mind in a moment of panic.

Luckily for everyone involved, the rubber had been almost used up as a fuel source, and the fire quickly consumed itself. We were left with a melted gooey mess, smoke flooding my kitchen, and a bowl full of unused cake batter.

After the initial panic wore off, it became very obvious that we both still wanted cake, but that neither of us had the guts to turn the oven back on. So we did the only thing we could do. We poured the cake batter into coffee mugs and nuked em in the microwave. And thus, the cake in a cup was born, well sortof. Im sure other people had come up with it before.....

ps: If you try this, only fill the cup halfway. because yes it overflows. Then you have a microwave AND an oven to clean up... :/
